About GVM

Shri Sanatan Dharm Sabha, Gita Bhawan (Regd.), Sonipat, is a voluntary, philanthropic and charitable organization engaged in various religious, educational, socio economic and welfare activities for the upliftment of humanity at large. Estd. in 1952, the society is dedicated tothe service of the poor, needy, downtrodden people, irrespective of their caste, creed, regionand religion. The establishment of GITA BHAWAN, the highest spiritual centre, situated in the heart of the town was the first pioneering effort made by the then visionaries, which paved the way for the establishment of several other institutions of repute, at a later stage.

“What does it matter, if you gain the whole world but, lose your own soul” have been the dictum of the founders of the society. The food for the soul is no less important, in the world of today, which is suffering form fierce, competition, materialism and tensions all around. Regular Bhajan, Kirtan, Katha and Hawans are the normal features.

The festivals like Dussehra, Diwali, Ram Navmi, Janamashtami etc. are celebrated at large. Several rooms in the campus of the temple give refuge to saints, homeless and deserted people. No less than a hundred poor take free food at Gita Bhawan wherein FREE LANGAR is arranged every day. It also provides venue for other organizations and religious institutions of the town for performing various socio economics activities.

Shri Gurucharan Dass Ji Maharaj, the great saint, visionary and a reformer advised the then founder of the society that, true service of the society lies in educating the people, specifically the relatively poorer lot, who are denied education due to their poverty. Education is an instrument of overall development of the personality of human beings. He laid down the foundation stone of Gita Vidya Mandir School in the year 1972. The seedling has grown into a tree and today it is a senior secondary school imparting education to about 2000 students.

Motivated by the dire need of higher education for women in this area, the society estd. G.V.M. Girls College, Sonipat in the year 1987. Educate a girl and educate a family. The society pursued the cause of empowerment of women through higher education and vocational education & put in its best for the cause. Twin principles of honesty & hard work on the part of students and staff in the dynamic leadership of Principal, brought forth superb results. The society bought a piece of 7 acres of land on Murthal Road and a huge infrastructure for G.V.M. College was created. In the year 2003, the college reached the apex of its glory when NAAC- National Assessment & Accreditation Council, an autonomous body of UGC placed the College in A-GRADE. G.V.M. Girls College in the year 2003 – happened to be the single college in the State of Haryana, which was placed in A – GRADE.

The performance in the field of higher education was a “go-ahead signal” for growth of vocational education for girls. In the year 2002 the society estd. G.V.M. Institute of Technology & Management. This institution imparts education to MCA students. The year 2004 witnessed the opening of a B.Pharma College, G.V.M. College of Pharmacy. Both of the institutions approved by AICTE. In the year 2006 the society started G.V.M. College of Education, approved by NCTE & affiliated to Maharishi Dayanand University, Rohtak.

Not only that, the society is performing effectively in the field of public health, mainly for the poor. The society have been running free dispensary, till 2001 when it estd. Sant Gurucharn Dass Charitable Hospital. Very nominal charges are taken & the poorer one’s are given medicine too. The hospital is managed by the experts from with in the management and the qualified faculty in the field of medicine, Dentistry, pediatrics, eyes, ear – nose – throat, speech therapy and physiotherapy. An independent laboratory is very much there in the hospital and conducts various tests – at a rate lower than that in the market. There is an operation theatre, used mainly for eye operations and eye operation camps etc. are the normal functioning of the hospital. The hospital is open 24hrs. to facilitate the people in case of emergency. I invite your concern in an effort in the larger interest of the humanity.
